YouTube, owned by Google, is an excellent outlet for modern creativity, allowing users who upload videos, known as "content creators" or simply "YouTubers", to earn money to be experienced with its own contents; such as reviews, parodies and skits; in terms of advertising revenue. However, due to YouTube's new copyright system, Content ID, this channel and the jobs of the people who work on it are in danger; Content ID is a broken system that should be revoked. By automatically scanning videos for even small amounts of copyrighted content or by allowing copyright holders to flag offensive videos themselves and by turning off advertising revenue for the creator of the content (but not for Google or the copyright holder ) of videos, YouTube's new copyright system means content creators on YouTube thrive while losing their jobs, which goes against the rights of content creators. Since YouTube has an extraordinarily large user base and allows monetization of videos using advertising, it has become a viable business; yet the jobs it created, it is now destroying. First, it does so not simply by notifying content creators when copyrighted content is found, but by immediately diverting video revenue only to Google and the alleged copyright holder (Tassi). This approach is very similar to that of an officer who, after stopping a speed camera, immediately takes him to prison, instead of giving him a fine. By acting in this way not only on videos with little copyrighted content but also on those without any copyrighted content in terms of false positives (Rates), YouTube is causing many to lose money. Says one expert on the subject: "Anyone who is accusing these content creators of copyright infringement needs to provide sufficient evidence for their claims rather than this self-reporting, wide-ranging algorithm... middle of paper..."
