Bollywood originated from the Lumiere brothers when they shot six short films in a hotel in Mumbai, India. The first film shown in India was at the Heston Hotel on 7 July 1858 through a Lumiere Brothers cinema. Their captivating films caught the attention of Dadashaheb Phalke and he founded Indian cinema. Dadashaheb is also known as the father of Indian cinema (H2g2). He was born on April 30, 1870 in Trimbakeshwar, India. Dadashaheb studied art from the age of fifteen. Phalke began working with the Lumiere brothers' worker, Carl Heinz, to start the process of the industry. He took great interest in the industry and informed Harishchandra Bhatvadkar in 1899 and started the development. Both made two films in 1899 and showed them with the Kinetoscope. On May 13, 1913, the father of Indian cinema released the first silent film. From that day the Bollywood Film Industry was finally born. Phalke got his idea from the film The Life of Christ and sailed to England to meet Carl Heinz (The History of Indian Cinema from 1896 to the Present Day). By 1920, twenty-seven films were being made per year. In today's Bollywood industry, over 1,000 films are made every year. HS Bhatvadkar started shooting with Hiralal Sen in Calcutta and Bombay (The Story of Indian Cinema). Dadashaheb was very overwhelmed and went to the department. with cinemas in 1920. He almost died around 19...... middle of paper ...... with the convening of a film congress in 1939. Director Mehboob Khan's Aurat was released in 1940 and was later entitled Mother India. The Bollywood industry was soon marked and confirmed by 20th Century, Fox, Sony Pictures and Warner Brothers. Today improvements have been made in the Bollywood film industry.
