Leonardo da Vinci's achievements are not only astonishing but truly inspiring. Leonardo left his mark as an Italian painter, sculptor, architect, musician, engineer and scientist. Leonardo's versatility and creative power mark him as a supreme example of Renaissance genius. In his drawings he depicted, with scientific precision and consummate mastery, subjects ranging from flying machines to caricatures. He also performed intricate anatomical studies of people, animals, and plants. The richness and originality of intellect expressed in his notebooks reveal one of the greatest minds of all time. It was the Renaissance period when Leonardo da Vinci was born on 15 April 1452. He was born in a farmhouse in Anchiano, which is 3 km from Vinci. His family had lived in this area since the 13th century. His father, Ser Piero, was twenty-five years old and a notary when he was born. His mother's name is Catarina. His name is all we know at the moment. Leonardo lived in Anchiano for about five years until he settled in Vinci to live with his grandfather. From this time he was part of his father's family, but was never legitimized. Leonardo attended school and lived in Vinci until 1466. At the age of 14 Leonardo moved to Florence where he began an apprenticeship in Verrocchio's workshop. Andrea del Verrocchio was, at the time, the most gifted artist in Florence. Leonardo worked in the workshop with other famous artists such as Botticelli, Perugino and Lornzo di Credi. In June 1472 Leonardo was enrolled in the Order of Painters of Florence and completed his apprenticeship. But Leonardo did not leave Verrocchio's workshop and the end of his... half of paper... experimental science. In 1965, two previously lost notebooks were found in the National Library of Spain, in Madrid. The first is a vast work on technological principles, the second is a 14-year intellectual diary. The lost notebooks were published as The Madrid Codes. These are the notebooks that reveal him as one of the greatest minds of all time. With an IQ of 220, Leonardo was not only a genius in the traditional sense of the word, he was also an artistic genius. Leonardo da Vinci's work will amaze and inspire us for generations to come. When I think of the word genius, Leonardo da Vinci with his vast array of talents definitely comes to mind. Leonardo da Vinci is absolutely one of the greatest minds of all time.
