This was a good step because all the collection would have been considered waste in the landfill, assuming it got there. Preventing waste from ending up in landfill and using it correctly is the most ideal thing a community can ever do. This is because as well as saving on resources, recycling ensures that pollution is kept to a minimum through minimal discharge. In my community, North Carolina, the entire population is 9,535,483 people. This means that if everyone in my community committed to recycling waste, a lot of waste would be reused and this would prevent further pollution of the environment. It is estimated that in the one week I did the exercise, around 30 bags of rubbish were recycled. This means that if everyone came together to reuse waste in my community, the recycled trash would translate into 30* 9,535,483= 286064490 bags of trash in a week.
