Violence in Entertainment Violence has played an important role in entertainment, even in ancient times, such as Rome and Egypt. In those countries, fake murders were a kind of entertainment. Even in this day and age, violence in the media is constantly increasing. Research has shown that violence in the media has not only increased in terms of violence, but also in explicit, sexual and sadistic ways. There have been many concerns that as violent shows and films go global, people spend more time watching than doing other activities (MediaViolence). Whether people think media violence affects young people in a negative way or not, many experts think so. According to Professor Rowell Huesmann of the University of Michigan: "exposure to media violence causes children to behave more aggressively and affects adults years later." (ML Enders) There are generally three types of violence in the media: television, movies and video games, and I believe that these three types of media are responsible to some extent for the influence of violence on children and adolescents. Violent programs on television lead to aggressive behavior in children and adolescents who watch these programs (Murray, JP and Lonnborg, B). When children watch a lot of television violence, they tend to become more aggressive. Sometimes watching a single violent program can increase aggression. Children who watch violent, highly realistic television programs are more likely to imitate what they see if they watch it many times. Children with emotional, behavioral and learning problems may be more easily affected by television violence (Murray, JP & Lonnborg, B). The impact of television violence will eventually show up in a person's behavior, and even young people can be affected
