Those who prey on the weak will always prey on them. The majority of those sentenced to death were "repeat offenders" who continually exploit the weak and innocent. Killing a policeman is like shattering or killing that “thin blue line that separates civilization from anarchy.” Police officers are the ones who keep the streets safe for our society and uphold its beliefs. Some people may think that death penalty is inhumane and barbaric but ask those people who have lost their loved one or whose lives have been tied to a hospital bed because of some barbaric person. I'm sure they would be very unhappy to see the person who ruined their life receive only a few years of imprisonment or simple rehabilitation. Consider the example of the rapist and murderer above. Now, let's say the woman raped was my wife, my sister, or my daughter. How would I feel knowing that the person who ruined my family is calmly enjoying the benefits of a mental asylum and an air-conditioned room? The death penalty is not revenge. Rather, it is about ending a life that has no value to other human lives. Sentencing a murderer to death is in fact a favor to society.
