Topic > Women in Space Exploration - 1371

As space exploration has progressed, so has the diversity of those who have taken part in it. Only two years after the first man entered space did the first women, Valentina Tereshkova. After her experience in space, many other women have made their mark through the space program. Each of these talented women has strived for excellence in the field of space exploration and has provided great role models for people around the world. They had an impact not only on equality between all genders, but also on the knowledge we know about space today. These women, all different, shared one thing in common, the title of astronaut. The space program was enriched with the help of many profound women who worked on it and left their mark on history. A total of fifty-five women had the opportunity to enter space. Of the fifty-five women, six served and worked within the Russian/Soviet space program. A total of one woman has participated in China's space effort by becoming an astronaut. In China the word for astronauts is Taikonaut. The United States, a leader in the world's space efforts, has had forty-eight women astronauts serving NASA on their expeditions. Of those forty-eight women who served in the American space program, only forty-three were actually American. The other five were Chinese, Indian and Iranian. Finally, eighteen women are expected to fly on yet-to-be space missions. Many women from all over the world have entered the space and it is hoped that this pattern will continue in the following years. Among the many talented women who had the opportunity to enter the space was Eileen Collins. He participated in four separate missions. She proudly has the honor of being the first woman in space... center of paper... making a lasting impact on the field of space. Eileen Collins, Valentina Tereshkova, Mae Jemison, Sally Ride, Svetlana Savitskaya, and many other women who had the opportunity to enter space have all had their impact on modern history and science. These names will be remembered throughout the decades for the incredible strides they made in their space programs and their unique stories of how they got to go to space. No matter what agenda these women worked for, there is no doubt that they all made a big difference in the world. All of these women risked their lives in an attempt to gain knowledge, credibility and improvement for their space programs. Their loyalty and dedication to what they did will forever influence generations to come. Never forget what these women did because maybe one day you can make an impact like them.
