After a tragic car accident involving the President and First Lady, Chief Secret Service Agent Mike Banning receives his papers. Eighteen months later, Banning holds a desk job at the United States Treasury. An arranged conference between the South Korean president and prime minister held at the White House allows a powerful terrorist group to infiltrate and take over the White House and take the commander and chief hostage. The ban, along with the entire nation, bears witness to the fall of the White House or “Olympus,” as it is attacked from all sides. The Speaker of the House assumes the role of acting president and coordinates his response with some of the highest-ranking officials in the country. Without hesitation, Banning uses his vast knowledge of the White House and his specialized skills to fight the heavily armed invaders to protect the president and prevent the terrorists from achieving their goals and sending the world and its nations into World War III. the Department of Defense defines terrorism as “The calculated use of unlawful violence or the threat of unlawful violence to instill fear; intended to coerce or intimidate governments or corporations in pursuit of generally political, religious, or ideological objectives (Simonsen and Spindlove).” The North Korean terrorist group in Olympus has fallen, known as "KUF", manages to bring down the White House in less than thirteen minutes. A four-phase coordinated air and ground assault. Initiate the attack with a C-130 gunship. The ground attack consisted of suicide bombers and a disguised tourist with expert marksmanship training to penetrate the main entrance of the White House. The third phase was to use two wastes… paper halves… and obviously logistics, resources and planning are key to any coordinated attack. Therefore, several extremist groups will outsource their personnel to obtain specialized training in different fields necessary to carry out the tasks of the attack. Thought of similarly to the events of 9/11, an attack on the White House, while not impossible, would need expert intelligence, logistics, resources, coordination, and motivated personnel to pull off, but it makes the public wonder with all the post 9/11 increase in national defense and national security, how safe is America from a terrorist attack of that magnitude or an overall militarized attack.
