I guess my opinion is a bit biased because I come from a country that was once a communist country. As I stated at the beginning of the essay, I am from Iraq, my family came to the United States in 1994. In Iraq we didn't have much freedom, so when we came to America it was a culture shock to us how much freedom and freedom freedom of speech that we've ever had. I feel like my family is living the true American dream because we came to this country with nothing but the clothes on our backs and now we are one big happy family. The model that I believe best describes our American democracy is developmental democracy, because it is “widely embraced in American society, not only in civics textbooks but also by “good government” groups such as the League of Women Voters. “Good citizens” are informed, interested and active in public and civic affairs”
