Students are involved in building community in the classroom. In my classroom, students help create the rules and expectations of the classroom. By creating rules and expectations, students also help create guidelines in case those rules and expectations are broken. Students will need to understand the meaning of equal and fair. The environment provides a feeling of safety and encourages students to challenge their learning. The layout of the classroom includes the use of tables rather than desks to provide a sense of community. Students have areas in the classroom designated for quiet work. Creating an environment that fosters a growth mindset also provides an opportunity for students to speak up. Students will feel comfortable opening up within the classroom, which will encourage continued growth
