Topic > Animal Testing and Toxicology Testing - 719

Every day in laboratories around the world, animals are injured and abused while testing new products or chemicals. The life of these animals is horrible, they are locked in cold and lonely cages all day just to be tested. Animals still feel pain like humans, so why torture them if there are other alternative choices to these cruel testing methods? Animals that are locked in cages for testing are also said to have serious mental problems. Confined animals are said to have terrible anxiety and nervous habits from being confined so long. Most of the animals used in the tests were born there and their lives were never nothing. They use the animals as newborns for testing and so these animals grow up with the tests being their life, until they eventually kill them. Their whole life is based on product testing. All the tests are showing that basic or pure research investigates how organisms behave, develop and function with different experiences. Those who oppose animal testing argue that pure research may have little or no practical purpose. With modern technology there are many alternatives to animal testing and they could at least make the tests less cruel and harmful to animals. There are many different types of animal tests, for different types of tests performed to demonstrate different subjects. Toxicology tests, also known as safety tests, are conducted by pharmaceutical companies that test drugs or by contract facilities for animal testing. Toxicology tests are used to examine finished products such as pesticides, drugs, food additives, packaging materials, and air fresheners or their chemical ingredients. Most tests involve testing the ingredients rather than the fin…half the paper…animal that did nothing? They should instead use prisoners who have been convicted of murder or rape. So instead of seeing if perfume irritates a bunny's eyes, they should throw it into Charles Manson's eyes and ask him if it hurts. When he says this he proves one final point: animal testing is cruel and we would never do such harm to any human being, so why do it to an innocent animal? In conclusion, from the research that has been done, animal testing is very harmful and that animals should not be treated without any care. All animals need to be loved just like humans, there are many arguments in defense of animal rights. Scientifically it is not right to treat them this way. We would never do things like that to a human, so what makes it right to do it to an animal that has done nothing wrong? Animals deserve the rights that humans deserve.
