Christopher Columbus was born before October 31st in the Republic of Genoa, but in reality the exact place is still unknown. Cristoforo was the son of Domenico Colombo who was a wool weaver, he worked in Genoa and Savona. His father also owned a cheese counter where Cristoforo worked and his mother was Susanna Fontanarossa. He had three brothers Bartolomeo, Giovanni Pellegrino and Giacomo and a sister Bianchinetta. Christopher also worked in a cartography laboratory in Lisbon when he was young. In 1470 his family moved to Savona, Cristoforo worked on a Genoese ship for Renato I of Anjou to help him defeat the Kingdom of Naples. In 1473 Cristoforo began working with the Spinola and Centurione, Di Negro families in Genoa. He then took a trip to Chios in the Aegean Sea. In May 1476 he participated in Cargo's armed convoy to move an important cargo to Northern Europe. He then anchored at Bristol, England, and Galway, Ireland. In 1477 Columbus was on a ship heading from Galway to Lisbon, where he met his brother Bartholomew. And he continued to work for the Centurione family. Then Christopher settled in Lisbon from 1477 to 1485. He married Filipa Moniz Perestrelo, daughter of Porto Santo, a Portuguese nobleman. In 1479 or 1480 his son Diego Columbus was born. Between 1482 and 1485 Christopher began trading on the West African coast. There were some documents suggesting that his wife Filipa died in 1485 or that he may have actually left his wife. Christopher then traveled to Castile in 1485, and in the same year found a 20-year-old lover called Beatriz Enríquez de Arana. Christopher learned many languages, Latin, Portuguese and Ca......middle of paper......and Canary Islands, the fleet was divided into two wagons. Three ships were sailing to Hispaniola, to give supplies to the colonists and three more ships to explore the south. The fleet was sighted by Doldrums, spent eight days in Africa and arrived in the West Indies. At night the fleet saw an island to the west, which it called Trinidad because it had three hills. His crew was the first to see South America, they found water in Trinidad, in the Gulf of Paria. Columbus also believed that the earth was round but later discovered that it was actually shaped like a pear with a bump. After exploring the coast, Columbus decided to head towards Hispaniola on the northern route. August 19, 1498. A stream of people arriving in the city of Santo Domingo found that the ongoing feud against Columbus' rule was still ongoing. But then it was fixed
