In Punta Peron, there are many coastal processes, which influence the environment by building and destroying different coastal elements. These coastal processes include long-shore drift, deposition, weathering, and erosion. Each of these processes affects the environment differently. The destructive waves are powerful and violent. They destroy/tear down the coast. Destructive waves can create both spectacular and catastrophic consequences such as arches, stacks, stumps, wave-cut notches and even the creation of bays. Constructive waves, on the other hand, build the coast by adding sand to the beaches. This occurs when swell, the movement of water along a beach when a wave breaks, is more powerful than undertow, the movement of water along the beach into the sea. The photo on the left shows the result of a stronger backwash trend. Constructive waves are typically not as violent as destructive waves. - Longshore drift (LSD) is the movement of sand along a beach. The appearance of the coast changes drastically. This is because the tones of the sand fro...
