In the story “Antigone”, Sophocles shows that Creon's attitude is very angry, making everyone see him as a tyrant rather than a king. His respect for the city's laws leads him to abandon most points of view, such as the laws of the gods or the rights of people. He believes that his subjects must obey the laws he has established, even if moral or religious beliefs contradict his laws and beliefs. Creon's idea of a good leader is one who maintains order through violence and fear. Furthermore, his arrogant and power-hungry personality prevented him from asking for advice or listening to his own people. Creon does not want to be a bad king, using his power for evil things, but instead wants to be seen as a strong and great king, but his temper and arrogance prevent him from becoming a good king, and he remains more like a tyrant , with people keeping their mouths shut just because they're afraid to speak. For example, in verses (8-64) he gives a speech to the people of the town. He states that “As for the man who puts private friendship before public welfare, I have no need of him either” (lines 23-24). He is cruel, so the people of Thebes do not take him for an easy king but rather fear him if they do not obey his laws. This puts them in a difficult situation, whether they have to listen to their friends and the gods, or whether they have to listen to Creon's Tyrian rule. Creon states: “As I see it, anyone who takes on the task, the terrible task of setting the course of the city, and refuses to adopt the healthiest policies but fears someone, is tight-lipped and completely useless” (lines 198-202). This shows that Creon thinks that a good leader should be powerful and establish firm and strict laws to be respected. He believes that if someone... middle of paper... is attacked due to fear and aggression, and sets strict laws to demonstrate his strength, but only makes his people hate him for turning against his read the laws of the gods. Overall, Creon's leadership is very strict and focused on the state and its laws. But this isn't the only thing that makes him a bad leader; It's his character and his aggressive attitude that make him terrible as a leader and as a person. Whenever he is angry he behaves very harshly towards the people around him, even if it is not their fault, and makes rash decisions that only benefit him, going against his own moral code. Creon's leadership was too cruel and too harsh to work, and he forced people to remain silent, to listen, and not to have their say. Overall, Creon's leadership would never work due to his character, two, his severe and tyrannical rule, and third, his aggressive and harsh attitude..
