As a student I can identify with many of the same feelings as Gatto, such as feeling bored in class. Thomas Edison said: “Education is what remains after you have forgotten what you learned in school.” This supports the Cat concept of school versus education. Before I decided to homeschool, I often felt like I didn't have any challenges within the curriculum. I adapted to Gatto's concept of “challenging habits” (Gatto,115) when I decided to take that path.
