FINAL PAPER: MARKETING SIMULATION Marketing simulation allows us to develop a solid understanding of marketing. It allows you to execute a solid marketing strategy. We were able to implement all aspects of the marketing strategy, including target market, product design, pricing, marketing communications mix, pricing media selection, promotion and location. During the simulation, all the marketing elements of 4ps were developed. The purpose of this document is to illustrate how each area of the simulation relates to what we have discussed in class. We will discuss the target market, the 4p's of marketing, performance metrics and search data. TARGET MARKET Identifying typical customers is the first marketing strategy. The company should find the right customers who would like to buy your product, customize it and focus its marketing efforts on them. Therefore, this target market represents the customer group that offers the greatest opportunities. The simulation marketing game helped me develop solid knowledge and skills on how to define my target market. Different target markets have different demographics, psychographics, product usage demands, price sensitivities and other preferences. Knowing the different characteristics that differentiate the market segments was useful in choosing the right target market. During this simulation, we identified several characteristics that make the particular target market unique. These segments vary in size, demographics, price sensitivity and features of the backpack they are looking for. The simulation game, together with the course material, provides useful information on how to define and select a target market. Both provide the basis for segmenting consumer markets. The positioning map provided us with information on competitive positioning on price and product features. These parameters were useful as they allowed us to understand how to position our product based on the image we needed to portray in the market. Our research team has done a great job in providing us with information regarding the market trend, product positioning and much more. Their discovery has allowed us to update and improve our marketing efforts in ways that are desirable and beneficial to the company. CONCLUSION The simulation game has given me great marketing skills. Many things were learned during the simulation. The game allowed me to apply basic marketing concepts in a realistic environment.
