There are businesses that do not allow homeless people in due to their poor personal hygiene and appearance. An example of homelessness causing a problem was when John Kuppermann, owner of Smith Restaurant Supply in Syracuse, complained about “. . .how the homeless population under an Interstate 81 overpass is hurting his business” (Tobin). John complains about how some homeless people “urinate and defecate on his property, panhandle his customers and staff” (Tobin). Furthermore, wherever homeless people gather, it becomes an eyesore. These are legitimate complaints. At the time of writing I don't know if this was the case
