Do people really understand the damage energy drinks cause to the human body? Millions of people around the world believe that energy drinks help them become more energetic, but in reality they can cause more harm than good to the human body. More than 20,000 people have reported being hospitalized because of energy drinks, yet people continue to drink them because they have become addicted to the taste of the drink (ER). Energy drinks can cause high blood pressure, cancer, reproductive problems, insomnia, heart palpitations and many other problems. Even energy drinks that claim to be sugar-free can cause even more harm to your body. Energy drinks that contain little or no sugar contain a chemical called aspartame. Aspartame is an artificial sweetener that is 120 times sweeter than sugar. A study was conducted that showed that aspartame can be a major provocateur of cancer, especially brain tumors. Excess aspartame can cause 75% of brain cells to be damaged or killed. After this happens, aspartame can cause hypoglycemia, hormonal problems, memory loss, and even AIDS. Another chemical is called sucralose or splenda sweetener. This can reduce the amount of good bacteria in the body by more than 50%, increase the PH in the gut, and increase body weight. Sucralose can also increase the size of the liver and lead to kidney failure. An energy drink called Five Hour Energy has been linked to 15 deaths. They said the amount of caffeine in the shot was equal to the amount in two cups of coffee when the shot was only 2 ounces. and contains 242 mg of caffeine. The energy drink is made up of pure caffeine which is very harmful for you. And if you take two or more, bleeding ulcers in the stomach may occur and you can… half of the paper… times per minute and this is called tachycardia. Normal heart rate is between 61 and 100 beats per minute. Tachycardia can cause shortness of breath, chest pain, dizziness, and unusual sweating. More severe symptoms occur when you experience more frequent extra heart beats, six or more, and your pulse exceeds 100 bpm without anxiety or exercise. The problems caused by energy drinks outweigh the benefits they provide by more than 100 times. People drink them to stay awake or simply because the sugar rush becomes too addictive. It would be better and cheaper to simply drink a cup of coffee instead of going out and drinking a can of energy drink. Energy drinks may give you that little adrenaline rush you need for the moment, but the long-term effects can be devastating. They can cause heart disease, cancer, strokes, heart attacks, diabetes and even death.
