Topic > The Effects of Fast Food - 1245

Fast food has many effects on the body, most of which are related to disease. The two main diseases that can be contracted by eating fast food are liver damage and cardiovascular disease. The reason you can get liver damage from fast food is because the food is usually filled with an artificial fat called trans fat. They use trans fats because they cause the food to stay out longer than it normally would if it didn't contain it. When you eat these trans fats they build up in your liver and that's why you could get liver damage or worse, liver failure. Cardiovascular disease is disease of the heart and blood vessels. You can get this disease by always eating high levels of sodium and cholesterol and those two things are really what fast food is. Cholesterol can clog arteries, increasing the risk of heart attack or stroke. High levels of sodium from chips, sodas, or enriched meat products will increase your blood pressure, which can also increase your risk of heart attack or stroke over time. Once the cardiovascular system is damaged, it is difficult to perform physical activity and not having it will make it difficult to maintain good health. When you choose to eat fast food the effects will show on your body and you will not feel energetic and your performance in physical activities will be poor. Fast food brings obesity to the world. People don't realize all the disadvantages this brings to people's lives. Sugar, fat, and high levels of both are what increase the possibility of obesity. People living near fast food places increase their chances of eating it and becoming obese. Fast food restaurants have preservatives and cooking oils, which preserve the products. Oils make it difficult...... middle of paper...... to satisfy the customer, so that way you know it's fresh. Many of the chilis you get from a restaurant are really made from their old burgers. The drink dispenser and ice cream dispenser are often never cleaned and are known to contain mold. The grills are set at the high temperature of 750 degrees and are capable of cooking food at an extremely fast rate. Leftover food from fast food restaurants is always thrown away and never donated, so they just waste it. It is thought that people in fast food restaurants always wear gloves, but in reality many restaurants behind grills and where no one can see usually don't wear gloves and don't even wash their hands. All these things are what the public doesn't know and what people around the world should know because this is the kind of thing that happens just as we know it..
