My educational goals and professional aspirationsSince I was young, I have always tried to live up to my family's expectations. As a young Hispanic man from a middle-class family, I wanted to be exactly what my parents wanted from me. My parents, the second of both families, interrupted their studies at primary school to work in the heat of the fields and support the family financially. My parents told me about their struggles growing up in El Salvador and begged me not to be like them. They both wanted their children to have a better future than theirs and so they implanted this idea in their three children, in my two older sisters and in me. In my brothers, one achieves what the first could not. My oldest sister didn't graduate from high school and then, many years later, my second sister did. My second oldest sister didn't attend college, but now I'm starting college in the fall. But it doesn't complete what my parents decided for us. Their real goal with us was to help us become adults with stable careers. This is the last step for me. Being the youngest of my sisters, I always wanted to do the things they could never do. It was difficult to stay up many nights studying for exams, but the result was that I ranked 10th out of 504 students in my class, a feat my sisters never imagined. I received the honor of being on the High Honor Roll throughout high school. These results were achieved thanks to nightly study and hard work. It was worth it because it brought me closer to my educational goal. My educational goal, as well as my family's, is to graduate from high school and move on to college where I can study... halfway... try to help them have a better understanding of the matter. I aspire to help others, whatever the field. Sometimes it doesn't work because of the way I explain things. But the beauty of failing the first time is continuing again until you get better. The purpose of college is to learn and improve. If I decide to major in education, regardless of the field, I will try to convey to others the fascination of learning new things. No matter how long it takes, the amount of money needed, I hope to complete my family's dream of having a stable career. With this scholarship, if I can receive it, it will bring me a step forward. I may be able to fulfill my educational goal and finally enter college, graduate, and realize my career aspirations in my chosen field. I have the chance to make my family's dream a reality.
