Topic > IEEE 802.11 AC - 705

There was a time in our life when going wireless was a dream and was considered very expensive, but then the era of WIFI began. The first result of this wireless transmission was the IEEE 802.11 standard for wireless data transmission and over time it evolved as a/b/n. The latest 802.11n standard has been the real heavyweight and has gained a lot of popularity due to its amazing performance. It provided an almost 5x increase in bandwidth using the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna technique. The user experience for the 802.11n standard was so good that it was called "the end of an Ethernet" at the time. The AC standard works in the 5GHz band with some improved physical levels set with the idea of better video communication. It comes with more antennas, wider channels and more spatial flow along with a host of new features to increase productivity and reliability. This new IEEE 802.11ac technology is really just an update to the physical layer wireless technique used in 802.11n through the use of the multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antenna technique. Some improvements made to 802.11ac and changed parameters can be studied as follows: • Wider bandwidth channels Channel bandwidth is always related to the spread spectrum technology used in modulation. Larger channels provide higher data transfer rates between two nodes. In wireless technology n has 20 MHz and 40 MHz while 802.11ac has an additional 80 MHz channel along with the 20 and 40 MHz channels with the ability to also support 160 MHz channels. • Coding density: the 802.11ac standard guarantees higher coding density i.e. a greater density of bits per packet.• Extra spatial streamsMIMO technology provides extra spatial streaming that allows the transmission of multiple signals and... middle of paper......undoubtedly 802.11 AC it's an amazing technology but buy it now for the sake of it, implementing and upgrading current networks will not be a good idea as AC needs both receiver and transmitter to be AC and without AC adapters at reception you can't enjoy its benefits.
