The Notebook The Notebook is an incredible film that tells the story of two characters who fall in love, grow old, and ultimately die together. Noah and Allie meet when they are just teenagers, but fall in love instantly. They separate for a while, but eventually find their way back and end up getting married. As they get older, Allie's memory begins to deteriorate and eventually she cannot remember anything from her past and is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Allie portrays Alzheimer's correctly in the film because she has difficulty remembering her past and the people in it and is also very forgetful, which correlates to the known symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Considering that studies have shown that people with Alzheimer's tend to lose recent memories first and then long-term memory, in the film Allie had most likely been suffering from the disease for quite some time as she couldn't remember her husband.
