People will ignore their better judgment. During Milgram's experiment, many participants had tried to stop early, but when the experimenter said the experiment should continue, they gave in and continued administering the shocks to the student. Being like the people who rebelled may not be easy, but it is what people should do. We should follow our better judgment instead of conforming to society. This doesn't mean we shouldn't listen to authority, but we should rebel when it goes against our better judgment. In One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, McMurphy is an individual who represents rebellion. He knew that conforming to society would do him no good. He broke Nurse Ratched's rules, and although he was growing weak, he would not comply. He did not try to fit the image of a patient in a psychiatric ward. I also saw conformism and rebellion. When I was in middle school, the environment wasn't like that of BCA, where everyone enjoyed learning and strived to improve. Being surrounded by kids who cared more about their appearance than their education was not encouraging. It may have just been a disguise. Although many students are very intelligent and aspire to become better students, they are afraid to show it because they fear being teased. I decided I didn't care what they thought of me and showed that I loved learning. I wouldn't let them change who they are
