Truth is a difficult process. To find the truth it is necessary to overcome many barriers that obscure the truth. In Plato's Republic he describes truth as the false truth and the real truth in a cave. False truth is fueled by others, requires little critical thinking, and is easily manipulated. The real truth can only be achieved through the effort of seeking it, which takes time and at the same time discards the lies of others. In the cave, the puppeteers represent the people they manipulate in society, while the prisoners represent the people who are manipulated. The puppeteers cast shadows that act as barriers to the real truth, the shadows are the false truths that are projected onto the prisoners. In Heilbroner's Don't Let Stereotypes Warp your Judgment, stereotypes influence a person's effort to find the truth by creating a filter that causes him to become both the puppet master and the prisoner by casting a shadow to intercept his vision, blurring away from the real truth. In Shakespeare's Othello, Iago, being the manipulator, starts out jealous of two other characters, Othello and Cassio. Iago later manipulates Othello into believing that his wife and Cassio are having an affair. Othello who is thrown the prospect of false truth understands the stereotype that society has towards his skin color and loosens his control to find the real truth and believes Iago's false truth. Iago deceives the truth so that the false truth is projected onto Othello and the other characters, confusing Othello on the path to the real truth. Othello faces the blocks that exist throughout the story which tragically affect his actions, when the blocks are cleared, Othello regrets what he has done as the real truth is revealed. Without making comparisons with one type, you can observe another and understand its personality through your observations. The truth is difficult to find because there are many barriers that block a person from the real truth. Othello is blinded by the false truth expressed by Iago and is no longer able to see the real truth. A person who wants to seek the real truth must overcome these blocks with commitment and great changes. Stereotypes are one of the deeply rooted barriers in our society. In today's society, people often look at others with a filter that can be good or bad. Stereotypes often cause one to think on both sides and easily deceive about the false truth and a specific side without truly understanding the person being looked at..
