Topic > Fishing with my grandmother - 729

When summer comes people get excited about swimming, family vacations, but for me it's fishing with my grandmother. There is nothing better for me and my grandmother than to throw a probe into the water, lie down in a chair and wait. Growing up, my grandmother took me to do many things as a child, but fishing was my absolute favorite thing. Sometimes on the weekends we would take little road trips for the day and in the back of the truck was always my fishing pole. My grandmother would stop on the side of the road when we passed a river or stream and we would always get out and look over the railing to see if we saw any fish, if I saw a fish I would run to the truck get my pole and throw it in the water. As a child, fishing came naturally to me, it wasn't something he had to show me for hours, it was something I learned naturally. One summer my grandmother, uncle, and I went out of town to visit family in Southeast Kansas. We knew we would go to our favorite fishing spot while we were there. I was so excited after we went to visit family that we went back to the hotel room that I knew I needed to get some rest because we would be up early. The next morning we drove around it was about 7am, the orange sun was shining and we headed to the pond we fished in when we were here. After we went out and set everything up I asked my grandma to put bait on my hook because I thought it was disgusting, after she baited my hook I cast my rod as far as I could and then I sat down and waited. As the day went on and the sun got higher and hotter I heard my grandmother's bell start ringing on the fishing rod, I looked over and saw here tugging on it, she started reeling it in until... halfway through the paper... .... I also like it because it's so peaceful and quiet. Fishing is not for everyone, it takes a lot of patience and this is something that my grandmother always reminded me of. My grandmother was a very wise woman and was very good at fishing. Now that I'm older I still love fishing and will always love fishing. I will pass down everything my grandmother taught me about fishing to my children and hope they will love fishing like I did as a child and make many more memories in the future. My grandmother taught me many things in life but she always showed me the good things in life you don't always need money to have fun it's the little things that can make someone happier because I know she always made me happy that I will carry with me about the things she taught me, about the love of nature and all the life lessons I learned from her for the rest of my life.RIP Grandma *1-11-13*
