Undocumented Immigrants Help Keep the United States Safe The issue of undocumented immigrants was a huge debate in the 2016 presidential debate. The rise of undocumented immigrants of documents in the United States has scared Americans into thinking that the surge is more like an invasion, but there are so many other reasons why it is better to retain our undocumented immigrant population than to deport them. The fact that they improve our economy, eliminating low-end jobs or increasing our GDP per capita by 4% is a great place to start (). Most Americans say that deporting undocumented immigrants is in America's best interests, but in reality undocumented immigrants help America and even Americans themselves. An important argument why illegal immigrants should be deported is the fact that they do not have to pay taxes and that they get benefits from the government. This in turn takes resources away from our government. However, the US Internal Revenue Services (IRS) estimates that undocumented immigrants paid $12 billion in Social Security taxes in 2010 using false or duplicate Social Security numbers(). Undocumented immigrants actually pay many types of taxes such as state income tax, sales tax, property tax, and excise taxes. In California alone, an estimated $280 million in state income taxes were paid (). This information disproves the popular belief that undocumented immigrants don't pay taxes and also demonstrates that undocumented immigrants are making positive contributions to our economy and society as a whole. The fact that with the contributions undocumented immigrants have made with little or no benefit from their efforts shows that we should at least give them a chance in American society. ....ny because managers save their workers money and make money from the products. Undocumented immigrants make positive contributions to American society, especially in our economy. Deporting them would not be in America's best interests for many reasons other than the fact that "the country was founded by immigrants." President Barack Obama said, “What makes someone an American is not by blood or birth, but by loyalty to our founding principles and faith in the idea that anyone, from anywhere, can write the next chapter in our story.” . Our founding faiths, our Constitution, and our freedom are what Americans are proud of. An early American belief was that anyone who wanted to free themselves from Tierney, or simply wanted to start over in a new land, could come and be welcomed into the country. So why do Americans choose to change their beliefs and ways now?
