China has demonstrated the ability to change the weather despite the argument that it is “arrogance” to think that it is impossible to predict and change the weather. It is true that the models may not be accurate and there will be unintended consequences, but it is in the interest of the future to continue researching how to improve climate engineering. The attitude that we can ignore the root cause of global warming, greenhouse gases and rely on fast-acting climate engineering is very arrogant in our role on earth and our capabilities. It is important to understand that all systems are connected and assessing risks before discharging chemicals into the ocean or atmosphere is critical (Meyer, Uhle, 2016). With these “solutions” issues like ocean acidification and rising greenhouse gases go unaddressed, and with the immediate effects of climate engineering they may go unaddressed, leaving the problem worse for the future.
