However, when you examine their true purpose and commentary, you find that it is a direct attack on the principles of what it means to be a man. Both tales describe men whose sole purpose is to impress women; or, men who are simply foolish. While both stories are superficially misogynistic as men treat women as sexual objects, the real offense is the misandristic stereotype that this is what a typical teenager would do.
