A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... the first pilot episode of the Star Trek series was released, and with the premiere of STAR WARS: AGAIN HOPE in 1977, geeks, nerds and general geeks have had a debate ever since about which sci-fi mogul created the best cinematic entertainment. Personally I would like to resolve this topic with four main points in favor of the best film franchise: STAR WARS. My four points are: 1. STAR WARS has better weapons, 2. STAR WARS has better villains, 3. STAR WARS has better music, and finally, 4. Star Trek is less of a cinematic ICON than STAR WARS…. .The first point I would like to make is that the STAR WARS films have far better and more impressive weapons than Star Trek. This is demonstrated not only by the Death Star, a massive display of armed force, but by how Star Trek's central weapon, the phaser, pales in comparison to STAR WARS' flagship weapon: the lightsaber. The lightsaber is a cultural icon and has been fashioned into toys, replicas, and many other forms. Chris Anderson of businessinsider.com points out that "A pulsing beam of light that is a sword that cuts through metal like butter" is an original idea from the Star Wars saga, while laser guns have been used repeatedly in science fiction (Anderson) .score: STAR WARS-1 Star Trek-0My second reason why STAR WARS is the better movie franchise is that STAR WARS has better villains. The Empire is a much scarier galactic villain than any threat in Star Trek because it controls such a large part of the STAR WARS universe. Wherever they go, the rebels must be on the lookout for the Emperor's minions. On a more specific level, the main villain of STAR WARS: Episodes...... middle of paper ...... has better villains, 3. STAR WARS has better music, and 4. STAR WARS is a more important character movie icon. Now, if you're wondering what movie to watch on a Saturday night, the choice has been made clear; CHOOSE STAR WARS!WORKS CITED(Anderson) -Anderson, Chris C.
