The women of Trifles were ridiculed in the sense that men regarded them as typical women, simply concerned with small things and useless matters. The laws of that era hindered women because they were not taken seriously and had to be submissive and get along with their husbands. They almost had to prove their innocence rather than have someone prove their guilt, which almost made them second class citizens. With Trifles, men already had preconceived ideas, and this easily led them to overlook the things women perceived in their daily lives.
