Topic > Inauthentic Identity in a Doll's House by Henrik Ibsen
Nora is oppressed by a variety of social moral codes. Ibsen in his "A Doll's House" describes the role of women as subordinates to emphasize their role in society. Nora is suffocated by her husband Torvald's manipulation. It has a very typical role in society. Torvald is a rough bank manager. Having work as his main priority, he maintains many responsibilities. He often treats his wife as if she were one of these responsibilities or better yet a burden. Torvald is very authoritative and puts his appearance, both social and physical, before that of the wife he supposedly loves. Torvald is a man who cares more about his honor and reputation than he cares little about that of his wife
