“who for us men and for our salvation came down from heaven” This is my favorite verse from the Nicene Creed. When I read it I want to scream in adoration, and I hope it does the same for you. It's a perfectly fitting line to consider this holiday season. It answers questions like: What is the reason for the season? Why is there joy in the world? Why did Jesus come? Where did Jesus come from? Consider these words of Paul which were probably part of the inspiration for this line: “Have the same attitude among yourselves as is also yours in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, do not consider equality with God something to hold on to. Rather, he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, becoming in human form; and, found human in appearance, he humiliated himself, becoming obedient to the point of death and death on a cross. Therefore God highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Him....
