“Circulatory disease, obstructive pulmonary disease, depression, and arthritis were each associated with a greater likelihood of falling, even with adjustment for medication use and other potential factors confounders” (Lawlor, Patel, & Ebrahim, 2003, p.713). These diseases are associated with a greater chance of falling, because when someone gets sick, they ruin themselves inside and no longer feel like they used to. These diseases can numb a person to the point that they cannot feel a limb and are therefore at greater risk of falling. In the study conducted to show the risks of falls it was highlighted in a graph that arthritis was the main cause of falls in women. Arthritis starts to cause women's bodies to start to suffer in such a way that they can no longer move as much and therefore the risk of falling increases.
