Many who call companies like Disney or travel agencies like Interval experience problems with who answers the phone. Why is this? This is mainly due to the fact that the people who answer the phone have very heavy accents. Most Americans don't expect this. Since they are in America, they expect an American to answer the phone. This is not the case. Running a company in America has become very expensive. Therefore, companies go where they can find cheap labor. In countries like India and China, it is very easy to get people to work for pennies a day. So when people call certain companies, their call is sent to a call center on the other side of the world. Many Americans are angry about this and they have every right to be. Outsourcing has disastrous effects on the economy. Something must be done. To solve the recent spate of economic problems caused by outsourcing, the U.S. government must reduce the costs of operating a company in this country. Outsourcing presents many problems. One of the main problems with outsourcing is language barriers. People in different countries speak different languages, of course, and have different ways of saying things. This could spell big trouble for the company. If the customer and employee do not understand each other, this could lead to poor call handling quality. The customer will have to constantly ask the employee to repeat what they are saying and this could lead to frustration. Even though the employee speaks English, he has a very heavy accent. It is also wise to consider the fact that the English adopted by other countries is very different from the English spoken by Americans. Just as British English is vastly different from American English, Chinese… middle of paper… people can work for them as many hours as possible and happily accept as much money as the company can afford. Outsourcing has its benefits, but it would be much better if jobs were created in the United States instead of being shipped overseas. The problem could also be solved if the right people were alerted and citizens did everything they could.
