IntroductionLeadership is a highly valued and highly desired asset. It can be described as both a characteristic and a process. As a trait it has been seen as a property or set of character traits possessed by various people at various levels, limiting leadership to those believed to have unique, inherent and natural talents. The process context views leadership as a phenomenon that provides a relationship that connects leaders and followers making leadership accessible to all (Northouse, 2010). The leadership process has many complexities that have attracted the attention of researchers resulting in several theories that attempt to explain the complexities associated with leadership. Such theories include path-goal theory, transformation theory, authentic leadership, and situational leadership, among others. McLeod (2007) argues that there are frameworks that help agents tackle a problem using various approaches. These approaches have been summarized in Bolman & Deal's four frames which include structural, human resources, political and symbolic approaches. This article carefully examines transformational leadership and discusses its application using the human resources framework as one of the Bolman and Deal (2008) models. Transformational Leadership Transformational leadership is considered among the latest and most widely used approaches that pays more attention to the attractive and moving elements of leadership. It adapts to the needs of today's work groups who, in times of uncertainty, want to be motivated and empowered to succeed. It can be defined as a process that changes and renews people (Northouse, 2010).
