People believe that the minimum wage will solve all their problems, they will be able to have extra money to spend on whatever they want, it will be easier to get a job, it will improve our economy . Ultimately, raising the minimum wage to an amount that no longer motivates people to want to move up, to want to acquire those skills to achieve their dreams, will only end up hurting our economy instead of improving it. If we set an amount that high, tell me who will want to move up in the cycle? No one will, people will be content with what they have and live the rest of their lives that way. The minimum wage has too many side effects in this knock-on cycle. The minimum wage is supposed to be helpful by helping low-skilled workers find jobs and providing them with the pay and skills they need, but if the minimum wage continues to rise, only higher-skilled workers will continue to rise while workers low-skilled will remain down.
