(PBS)” or an objection presented in my Focused Inquiry course “if there is enough food, why are people starving?” These objections are quite insightful, but they address issues other than the belief that resources on Earth are scarce. First, farmers would not be able to sell surplus food for money, because there cannot be “too much production and fewer buyers. (PBS)” The current population on Earth does not require the amount of food that farmers are capable of producing, which, if produced, would not only cause farmers to waste time and money, but there would be large amounts of food that goes to waste. Second, people are starving, not because there is not enough food on Earth, but because of economic problems, typically in underdeveloped countries. These underdeveloped countries have not yet established adequate programs or methods for the entire population of those countries to receive adequate nutrition and adequate food resources to live long and healthy.
