Topic > Importance of a Career in Physical Therapy - 724

One must emulate altruistic behaviors by dedicating one's time to the program, thus reflecting one's ability to dedicate oneself completely to one's patients. It is important that students in the Doctor of Physical Therapist program are selfless individuals concerned for the well-being of others. During rush hour at Kapi'olani Medical Center, the waiting room was filled with families waiting for their session. I took on the responsibility of helping as many patients as I was allowed to serve. I ended up staying longer than necessary, but it's not a strenuous task for me to dedicate my time to those I can help. It is truly an honor to be able to have the opportunity to help someone who is not fully capable of helping themselves. This behavioral trait in a doctor of physical therapy program is necessary, because it lays the foundation for someone to put the well-being of others above their own individual well-being.
