In today's society children can be very agitated, especially with all the sugar and junk food around. Most parents may begin to wonder if sugar or a short temper is all that is affecting their child. A child can show multiple signs of anything if observed closely enough. Many parents do not want to acknowledge that their child may have a problem that is well beyond their control. According to the article “Children Who Have Attention Disorders: Diagnosis and Evaluation.” which can be found in Pediatrics in Review, children who suffer from attention deficit demonstrate basic signs of inattention, impulsivity, and excessive activity. Most of these behaviors are not appropriate for the child's age and do not allow them to reach their full potential which a child may receive may require medication, therapy, or both to get them back on track depending on the severity of the disorder. Children who suffer from concentration problems represent a very diverse population that can exhibit a very wide range of symptom severity and a wide range of diagnoses that can accompany each symptom. Attention disorders are about six times more likely to affect males than females. About half of children who exhibit symptoms of hyperactivity and attention problems carry these symptoms into school-aged adults who are affected by them, and these disorders are among the least understood. “Labels for these problems include minimal brain dysfunction (MBD), hyperkinesia, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADDH). ) and currently, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). As the child matures, these symptoms may disappear completely, but otherwise the symptoms may be manageable and the child can lead a relatively normal life.
