However, many studies have examined why people turn to gangs and why they commit criminal activity. Therefore, further examination of how gang membership and involvement with delinquent youth are linked to delinquent behavior is explored. Children learn right from wrong early and this content is taught to them by their parents. Additionally, research has demonstrated the relationship that gang members and peers have with youth in our society. These influences are not always positive, in fact the results show that when young people join a gang and become members they end up committing more delinquent behavior than before their involvement. In similar findings it is stated that the same is true for affiliation with delinquent peers. As a society we must be aware of the needs of our young people, otherwise more and more young people will choose the wrong friends to hang out with and the wrong group to associate with
