Topic > Alfred Adler: The four phases of therapy as...

What is a counseling technique? The technique is used by the therapeutic counselor for many different ways of reaching the client through counseling. However, when counselors become very familiar with a certain type of therapeutic technique, they begin to find comfort in the technique if it is successful. Their theoretical approach is important because of the way it informs the way a consultant works. The importance of counseling comes from the time and effort put in by the counselor paying attention to the client and the client exposing the problems that are occurring in his or her life. In the treatment process, the counseling aspect gives inspiration, vision and positivity to the client. Counseling is the verbal way to describe therapy. Therapy is the cooperative enterprise that challenges clients by translating insights into action in the real world. Therapy is used to revive a person's life and the verbal form of counseling gives the client a sense of purpose to continue in life and to establish a sense of being in a better place in the future. Counseling provides guidance and not advice, therapy offers the therapist a choice in how to handle their clients. Many therapists who use the Adler Counseling Technique use it for emotions, occurring thoughts, and influences in their life. Encouragement comes from how a person perceives the solution to the problem. The therapist must see his clients as other human beings without the prejudice of the social vision of the psychologically ill. The four phases represent the goals of the therapy necessary for the completion of the therapeutic sessions. The names of the phases are commitment, evaluation, intuition and reorientation: these are the four classified by Adler. People in therapy are also encouraged to acquire a more positive and productive lifestyle by developing new insights, skills and behaviors.
