Building a blueprint for a personal and professional growth plan: Management is an important aspect in today's global society because it helps to control the interdependence of relationship between businesses and society. Managing this interdependence is increasingly important for managers in companies, public administration and organizations today. Preparation to be effective as a manager would require management education that provides knowledge related to management principles and functions. In light of increasing globalization in today's society, the most important skills a manager should possess include strategic thinking, emotional intelligence, collaboration, critical thinking, communication, motivation, feedback and coaching. Furthermore, managers must see the world not just as a collection of national markets, but as a source of knowledge, expertise and information (Churchwell, 2003). To improve these skills, I will undergo formal training at a university while consulting management journals and articles for further information. Management by Objectives is a comprehensive management system that involves the integration of vital managerial activities in a systematic manner towards the efficient and effective realization of individual and organizational objectives. Strengths of this strategy include clarifying organizational roles and structures, improving management, developing effective controls, and promoting personal commitment. In contrast, strategy weaknesses include difficulty setting goals and the likelihood of inflexibility. However, it can be used to influence others by establishing preliminary goals at the top, clarifying organizational roles, defining subordinates… middle of the paper… improving efficiency and effectiveness in management. Outcomes I would include in this list include increased accountability, promoting role clarification within the organization, and an organization's ability to define itself. Personal goals I could set based on the results of this program are to improve efficiency and effectiveness in leadership and management. These objectives will be achieved through commitment to management training and in-depth research on the topic. The area where I need to grow is understanding how personality influences leadership style and how to develop the most appropriate leadership style based on personality and other important aspects in management. Growth in these areas will not only include in-depth training and research, but also the exercise of leadership in various management scenarios that would provide the basis for evaluating progress.
