Topic > The Pros and Cons of Gun Control - 1101

Many fail and refuse to see that guns can save lives. One bullet could be enough to take down a criminal who potentially could have killed a large number of innocent civilians. There are “armed citizens/teachers who had relatively quick access to a firearm” who have stopped mass school shootings (Huntwork). Anyone can agree that one death is worth dying versus a dozen or more. Wright verifies this when he states, “there are numerous verifiable causes why civilians use firearms every day for effective self-defense.” The purpose of firearms should be to help protect society. Citizens should have the ability to “protect and empower” themselves against any criminal or life-threatening action (Huntwork). After all, people with murderous intent tend to pursue easy targets. Others argue that gun restrictions will not solve the problem at hand, but rather a limit on the amount of ammunition a person can purchase and possess at one time. On the other hand, it is not the lethality of the attacker that matters, but rather the content "at the heart of a mass murder", which gives them an incentive to do what they want
