Topic > The Moral Instinct by Steven Pinker By Steven Pinker

In life we make decisions every second of the day, some minor and others that impact our lives, most of the time without considering how we made those judgments. Orwell elaborates his conflict using personal experience, and Tavris' use of historical experience helped illustrate both sides of the conflict. One is from the perspective of the doer, while the other is from the eyes of the public. Even with Pinker's ideology of morality, we are able to understand why people make certain decisions in life. This all ties into why Orwell ultimately makes the decision to shoot the innocent elephant. Now with all this information we are able to realize how we sometimes make the decision we make. One thing we should learn from this is that we always make the choice that can improve ourselves and neglect to please others because this can not only hurt us but sometimes others around us too.
