Each of these variables can be traced back to a connection with the social position of an individual. Although there are many different variables that cause inequality in society, most of them are caused by the difference in race, sex, and gender. The problem with the first and last categories is the fact that both are social constructs. Which inherently speaks to the norms of a specific society. The social position of an entire society, determined by the norms of that society, can actually cause the creation of social constructs such as race and gender. The norms of this particular society determine what types of skin tone, hair color, personality, etc., are prominent in such a society. This in turn causes the creation of these socially constructed labels to help explain the difference. Humans have a habit of doing this because they are afraid of what they don't understand, so they have to create an explanation. This is probably how most, if not all, religions began. Due to the norms created by the social position of the entire society, the creation of differences causes some individuals to be treated differently and therefore creates social inequality.
