In The Metamorphosis of Franz Kafka, Gregor Samsa is portrayed as a normal person. Someone who hates their job but recognizes that their work is necessary because it supports their family. Before Gregor turned into a dung beetle, his family seemed to care about him. Due to the main characters' transformation into an insect, everyone in his family begins to hate him. The Metamorphosis focuses on change, how a character's change throughout the story affects the main character Gregor Samsa. During Gregor's transformation his family becomes worried. “Gregor? Are you not well? Do you need anything?”(13). Not knowing what is happening, the whole family is worried about Gregor. They felt there was something wrong with Gregor.
