When asked what the Gospel is, some Christians are quick to explain something so simple that humans have complicated so much. Evangelist Larry Moyer simplified it this way: “Christ died for our sins and was raised from the dead.” The last part of this sentence is the most important, however. What is equally bad is watering down the importance of the resurrection. Many different people over the centuries have tried to explain the resurrection as something that could have happened. The resurrection is the most important part of the Gospel and must be defended. Jesus Christ is a man who lived in the first century who was a perfect man because he was God. He also did so many great things such as healing the sick and speaking with wisdom so superior to anyone else who ever lived; also Solomon. The greatest thing he ever did while on Earth was become the ultimate sacrifice for everyone who has ever lived. He did this by suffering and dying on a cross. He died for each person individually. If there was only one person who needed saving, Jesus would die for that individual. God the Father hates sin so much that he sent his only Son to die on the cross for the entire world. But it doesn't end here. After being buried for three days in a tomb, he was resurrected and came back to life. This resurrection proved that Jesus was God. The definitive sign to prove that He was God was this. After He rose from the dead, more than five hundred people saw Him. In the book of 1 Corinthians Paul writes about the resurrection of Christ and says that about five hundred people saw him. And most of those people were still alive! He included that little bit about them still being alive, so that I... middle of the paper... will be dead for three days and then resurrect. Jesus also compares himself to the Temple of Jerusalem. He says he will demolish the Temple and then raise it again. When the Pharisees see this, they think that Christ is literally talking about the Temple when in reality He is talking about His own body. Many times people don't really take into consideration the importance of the resurrection. The resurrection is the foundation of our faith. Jesus Christ is God and has conquered death. It doesn't matter how much evidence is presented. If a person comes to look at the evidence with the attitude that none of this ever happened, no amount of evidence will convince them. The only thing that would convince them is the Holy Spirit and also the Word of God. These are the two tools that are always indispensable for bearing witness. The resurrection is powerful and life-changing.
