Every decision made by a key politician or government body will inevitably affect people's lives, whether positively or not. I first got a hint of this concept when my country was hit by the SARS epidemic in 2003. The way my government handled various aspects of the crisis was so meticulous that it fascinated me greatly. Its intricate complexity and relevance to my daily life had further intrigued my younger self. Since then I have aspired to be able to influence and help my nation in the same way that my government has done. This interest turned into a passion when I received the opportunity to participate as a runner in a Model United Nations (MUN) school conference. My school later recognized the dedication, patience and diligence I demonstrated in these conferences. This then allowed me to represent my school as Chief Delegate for two more Model United Nations conferences after the initial one I attended.
