We trust that they choose everything and as we become adults, I believe that we have broken those bonds and that we are making our own choices, but in reality that is not the case. Mom and Dad still make us get up and still have to ask us to clean our room, do our homework, and make sure we eat healthy food. They also pay our bills, tell us where to be and where not to be, take us to school and, in general, are the most important person in our life. And of course, our friends are along for the ride. They determine who we should like and who we shouldn't like. They know who the best sports teams are, what the best movie is, and what the best social networking site is. And so we add our acquaintances to the ever-growing list of “the most important people in our lives.” Then at some point in our lives reality hits us and for many of us this happens in high school. I learned how to clean my room and how to feed myself. I learned to drive, take the bus, and be when and where I needed to be.
