Through the use of this team concept, a number of potential problems can be avoided before they become problems. For example, the design team would also function as a “troubleshooting team” by identifying potential problems and eliminating them before they can make it to the manufacturing floor. This same team could also be classified as a “cross-functional team” as it is made up of people from all the various departments of the company such as engineering, human resources, marketing and others. The effectiveness of the team will most likely improve significantly as time goes by. Members will need time to adapt to the new format which will include learning to trust each other which in turn will lead to improved performance among members. The cohesion of the group will increase as they progress towards the common goal of introducing new and better products to their customer base. Will it be a positive or negative cohesion? Provided that the end result is achieved, i.e. the company objective of bringing these new products to market, cohesion should be positive, but if it turns out to be the opposite
